A thought

Jesus was a Timelord. He wasn't dead when they took him off the cross; he was merely close to death. Took him three days to regenerate. And because he was an experienced Timelord, he could regenerate to the same appearance as before.

Makes about as much sense as "son of God"

...he could regenerate to the same appearance as before.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there's indication in the Xtian Bible that Jesus changed appearance with his resurrection: folks who knew him in life no longer recognise him? Or somesuch.

Oh really? Wow. Supports my theory. :-D

Actually, in my Lyria Spellspinner universe, Jesus was a mage. One of the last major mages before Earth was hit with a blast of anti-magic. Oh yeah, and Yahweh was a Faery Lord from Lyria's planet, Orion. Hence the biblical reference to his armies being defeated by an army wielding iron weapons.

Yes, he was a Time Lord. His after death appearances were messages through time from his dying body, hence why he couldn't physically interact - he wasn't really there.

He regenerated into a man, who ended up (at some point) going back in time to just before his death dressed as a Roman Legionnaire to stab his former self in the side with a pilum. In that time, he was known as Longinus.
