A reinterpretation

Seen from another point of view, the story of the garden of Eden could be interpreted as the writer rejecting as evil the idea of humans someday becoming gods, or in any way becoming like gods.

If it were written today, it could be an indictment of either true Satanism, or an indictment of transhumanism.

Or that the writers believed in a God who was a psychotically insecure and paranoid control freak. YWHW displays this kind of behavior throughout the "Old Testament". Presumably, the writers created a god in their own image...
