Wikipedia meme

1. Go to www.wikipedia.org

2. In the search thingy, type in the month and date of your birth, minus the year. Hit enter.

3. Find 3 births, 2 deaths, one "just for kicks" event, and a "startling" event that happened on that day and month, in whatever year.

Like thus:

My birthdate - July 1st.

3 Events:

251 – The battle of Abrittus is won by Goths against Romans. Roman Emperors Decius and Herennius Etruscus are killed.

1782 - American privateers attack Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

1858 - The joint reading of Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace's papers on evolution to the Linnean Society.

2 births:

1906 - Estée Lauder, American cosmetics entrepreneur (d. 2004)

1952 - Dan Aykroyd, Canadian actor

Deaths:

1991 - Michael Landon, American actor, director, and producer (b. 1936)

For kicks:

Canada Day (formerly Dominion Day) - national holiday of Canada

Startling:

1933 - Canadian Parliament suspends all Chinese immigration.

I found a LOT of things dealing with Canada for my birthday. Aside from history things, a lot of Canadaian actors/actresses share my birthday.

I submit that therefore you're a Canadian at heart.

Born on Canada day... a fact I've known and cherished for years. Yeah, maybe I am. :-)

Can't argue with free health care. However... don't think I'd want to move to Canada, for one big reason. Email me and I will tell you that reason.

The free health care isn't all it's cracked up to be. I have to wait till June to see an RN who will then see about me getting a psychiatrist. Were I able to afford private health care it would be a lot faster.

I didn't see a "just for kicks" or "startling" event - BUT - speaking of Canada, Montreal was discovered on my birthday (Oct. 2, so you can remember!) and the Opus Dei was created in 1928. I already knew Ghandi was born on my birthday (and it's a national holidy in India - woohoo!) but I didn't know the photographer Annie Leibovitz was. Cool.

Who is Annie Leibovitz?

Well the just for kicks and so on are events that you find amusing or startling. They'd be up in the events area, or summat.
