Well at least I know now.

The power just went out, for a split second. Computer lost power; no damage, no BSOD, but it's not supposed to lose power when plugged into the UPS. I guess the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that I got second hand at Goodwill doesn't actually work. Great. Now I have to go to ENU and get a new one. No idea what to do with the old one. But I'm sure kengr will tell me.

Luckily, I wasn't in the middle of anything important at the time.

EDIT: Damn computer doesn't know the word uninterruptible, and I didn't see that it had changed the word to "uninterpretable" until someone pointed it out. Then the cursor went haywire, selecting every damn thing. Had to unplug and replug the mouse. (When I use the graphics tablet, it sometimes causes strange malfunctions, and I had just finished another picture, this time of Molly and Dakota Bear.)

Sometimes you can just replace the battery on the UPS and it'll be ok. MIght be cheaper.

Okay, I guess I can take this one in to ENU and see if its battery can be replaced, if it will work with a new battery.

Not ENU. Take it to Batteries Plus on Broadway (down by the Fred Meyer.

For that matter, I've got a couple of others that need new batteries, and maybe we can work a deal to get me batteries in one of them if you get another (or two).

I want a UPS for the modem, router and usbserver.

Lost in Translation

You'll find it's uninterruptible, but I like your version too.

I have a UPS with two rows of sockets, 3 with UPS, 3 with just filtering that don't get juice when the mains drops out.
