I don't understand...

why one kind of sex for money (porn) is legal, but the other (prostitution) is not? Like George Carlin said, "If sex is legal, and money is legal, sex for money should be legal."

I was discussing prostitution with Hubby the other day. I really don't understand why it is illegal. If you have two consenting ADULTS and one adult is willing to pay the other adult of those types of services what is the big deal?

Really. Someone once said that traditional relationships are a lot like prostitution anyway... man gives woman gifts, woman has relationship and sex with him, or vice versa.

Jessica and I plan to play games where we pay each other for sex. Let's see them arrest us for that :P.

But seriously, the short answer is: most people aren't that smart and they're the ones making these decisions and pressuring their government to do so.

Long answer. Some people, a lot of people, seperate sex with another person and porn. That is to say, that some people have certain beliefs in regards to sex with another person. Some motivation to make it illegal has to do with morality, "respect for women" (let's all ignore the fact that there are male prostitutes) and safety concerns.

Moral: They want to control our sex lives for moral reasons.

Respect for women: There are male prostitutes. Duh. I'll mention another aspect of this as well... I've never quite understood how by having sex with someone that I'm not in a relationship with is disrespectful or paying them for it is disrespectful. I have no reason to disrespect the waiter that serves me my food or the mechanic that fixes my car (if I had one)... not by default. Sex is the same to me. I see no reason why I should see it different.

Safety: Obvious. This is the result of society caring too much. They care so much they can't allow others to put themselves in some measure of danger. Thanks a lot. I don't want you to care that much, people. I'm worried about people when they embrace certain religions but I would never be allowed to ban embracing the bible.

Porn: A lot of people want it illegal for similar reasons to the prostitution. Good thing enough people don't take porn as a serious enough threat to illegalize it even if they don't like it, or that some people use it themselves despite their objections and can't let go of it etc.

Finally: Read the short answer again.

What it all boils down to is control.

Yes. They make excuses based on our "best interests" but it's control. For, might I add again, stupid and annoying reasons.

Banning junk food, books, pokemon, sex or pokadot stones... it all the same.

Polka dot stones? LOL!

Yup. Not a real movement however I was attempting to degrade other movements by comparing it to something it can very well be compared to. :P

"My child is deathly afraid of polka dot stones! What of other kids that have this same phobia? We have to think of the children! The ones that fear polka dot stones! What? The other kids that don't fear it? Who cares, you selfish bastard!"
