An alien caught on CCTV?

This is awesome:

Given how much CCTV coverage there is in Britain, and the fact that I'm re-reading the first Harry Potter book, this made me think that the wizards keeping themselves secret is an even greater feat, in Britain and especially in London, than it would be in America.

You did note that no police claimed to know anything about the alien incident the next morning, didn't you.

Also, the wizards tended to be out in the country (the CCTV stuff is only in urban areas) or in their own neighborhoods.

There were a lot in London, too. Diagon Alley being a major example. And the day Voldemort disappeared there were loads. Also lots of incidents of wizards meeting Harry before he got his letter. Seriously, re-read book 1 sometime, there's all kinds of moments that will make you wonder at how they keep themselves secret. :-)

Diagon Alley is an example of a wizard *neighborhood*. There wouldn't *be* any CCTV cameras there.

And wizards are a secret from the populace, not from the Government.

And there are likely charms to make things like CCTV (and radar) ignore things the wizards don't want them to see.

Ah, like the muggle repelling charm. Yes, probably.
