Hermione not amused

Damn bed

The mattress I use started out very hard and caused me pain to sleep in. Over the first few months of using it, it got softer and easier to sleep on. Either that or my body just got accustomed to it. But now, I think it's time it got replaced. I just got woken up from a 2-hour nap not by my alarm clock, but by my sides being in too much pain for me to keep sleeping. That, and the fact that I can't be in the bed long enough most nights to sleep as much as I would like, makes me think it is time to look for a better mattress. There are more reasons, too. This isn't an arbitrary decision. This bed just hurts me, always has, and probably always will.

So either I shall have to get a new mattress top, or get some kind of cushion to put atop it to make it softer to use.

Annoying

So I went through some boxes and set some aside for storage once I get a storage unit. While I did so, I set up my altar. Well, it's not done completely yet because of an annoying thing: I tried taping up the drawings I have around my altar, and for some reason the packing tape doesn't stick to the walls well enough. It's weird, because I've never had a problem with packing tape before, it's usually pretty awesome. I think there must be something on the walls causing the problem. Anyway, I took a bunch of things down when it became clear they weren't going to stay up on their own, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few more things fell down in the night. What remains looks like it's up there pretty sturdily, and one of the things has been hanging on the wall since I moved in without an issue, but still, wouldn't surprise me if more stuff fell in the night.

Djiira (Amy) suggested painter's tape. I may go look for that tomorrow. Because apparently blue tack stains walls and papers, so that would be a bad idea.

Also hung up this gay pride flag I got at Pride a few years back. I've never been able to hang it up before, but I got it this time with some thumb tacks.

Found my pill box that got lost for a couple days, preventing me from taking my anti-depressants over the weekend. So that's good.

Oh, and I had no idea just how many clothes I had, which is weird because even with those, I need more. Anyway, I need to look into getting a proper dresser drawer, because all I have had for the last few years is a couple plastic drawers from Fred Meyer's. Which are great, but I need a dresser drawer as well.

Phone

Next month, I intend to get a proper cell phone, one that works right, unlike the free POS I have now. I think I'll get one like Brooke has, which has a keyboard for texting and doubles as a 32 gig MP3 player. And I want, for a ringtone, either the Star Trek communicator chirrup, or the metallic "buzz-buzz" of a Farnsworth (from Warehouse 13). In fact, the Farnsworth buzz is my preference.

Hmm... I wonder if I can get the Farnsworth buzz for phone calls, and the communicator chirrup for the text message sound.

Thought I had

A thought I had earlier, is I think I may turn on the screen capture video program I have when I set about drawing a new Eye of Grah'Bahn picture, so I can post the video to YouTube. Only problem will be, YouTube only lets free users have like 9 or 10 minute videos, so it would have to be broken into chunks. But it would be cool to show how I draw stuff on the computer.

GURT UR JURRRB!

At some point the other day, a friend was out panhandling and someone told her that she looked too nice to be homeless. When she told me this, I was like "What, because you still have all your original teeth, you don't wear rags, and you bathe?" The same woman also apparently told her she should go and get a job, just as casually as you'd say to go pick up some bread while you're at the store. And I was like, "She's making it sound like it's as easy as ordering food at McDonald's. If you could just go and buy a job, that would be pretty cool. 'Yes, I'll have a job with a side of health care, and hold the taxes.' " Which made her crack up with laughter. :o)
