Question from a friend

Question from [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith:

27. If you were going to become a close friend with your partner, please share what would be important for him or her to know.

For the purposes of this discussion, that can be anything that your friends in general need to know about you.

Thank you, [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith, for the clarification, because the question was confusing me. Still kind of is.

Things to know about me? I don't tolerate bigotry. At all. I have no patience for it. I don't befriend or date anyone I know is a bigot. This includes being bigoted against BDSM. Some people I know have the attitude of trying to convert bigots to not-bigots, but I don't have the energy, skills, or patience to do that. And frankly, even if I did, I wouldn't waste my time. I don't consider bigots worth wasting any time on.

Given the preponderance of racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, Islamophobia, various forms of ableism, and other bigotries, this basically cuts 99.99% of human beings off from being my friends. Acquaintances, I guess so. Friends? Nope. And that's the way I like it.

I also don't have a lot of patience for people I think are boring. But the anti-bigot thing is strong dislike/disgust and fear, whereas my feelings toward boring people are just being annoyed by people who waste my time.

Agreed on all points-- even the "boring" part!

Although, I don't find 99.9% of people to be bigoted. But maybe I'm just lucky? Most of my friends are either different to begin with, or just really open-minded.
