Annoyed

There's this Buddhism paper, 5 pages long and 10 point font, that was due last week. I couldn't finish it on Thursday because I was exhausted in more ways than one. Friday was the con, as was Saturday and Sunday. Now all this week every time I've tried working on it, there's been one thing or another that all adds up to this: I don't have a fucking clue what to say in the damned thing. I have 1 3/4ths pages done out of 5. And it's all crap. I can't get anywhere on it, and it's pissing me off.

Do an outline. Lay out the general items that have to be covered.

Then expand each item into sub items. Repeat until the items will be coverable as a paragraph or two. And there are enough of them to fill the allotted space and then some.

Then you can edit it down to fit.

Great idea, if I hadn't already tried it. Outlines never help me.

Not cessanarily a "formal" outline. Even a short list of what the paper is supposed to be about or to have in it can help.

For the practicality, go with what kengr said. For the perspective, try to approach it with shoshin.

what is it exactly about?
or what is it called?

It's about the Three Jewels of Buddhism and how they relate to Buddhist ethics.

So list what the three Jewels are and what constitutes "Buddhist ethics".

That's your starting point. Or rather the starting point and the ending point. Then you just have to describe how to get from one to the other.
