Oh wow

On my tablet I use a program called Dimly whenever I have a headache because my headaches come often with sensitivity to light and sound. Well apparently the one I had last night was bad enough that I had the screen so dim that this morning I didn't recognize the first time that I had woken the tablet up because I could barely see even when I noticed it was on. I had to shake the tablet to reset Dimly so I could see the screen!

Oh, Wow!
It’s got to be dark when playing the wii, like when we bowl—compared to watching TV. I’m legally blind, and seeing the TV screen’s completely different for different activities. Yes, I have to sit awfully close for whatever I’m doing; however, my eyes focus differently when playing video games or watching movies. People think it’s weird that it’s got to be dark for me to be able to easily see the screen when I’m playing wii bowling. That’s because the glare gets in the way of my ability to easily see what’s on the screen.
Thankfully, my boyfriend understands that. Unfortunately, I can’t see the TV from far away, so I just listen to it when we’re getting ready for bed. Having my glasses on helps things come in clear, but doesn’t make seeing things far away any easier. That’s why I sit by the TV when we watch “Little Big Shots” on NBC tonight after this afternoon’s Cubs game. Go, Cubbies!

Sounds a little like a kind of blindness that featured in a book I read. I think it was called day blindness, and the discovery that one of the characters was day-blind (only blind in certain lightings, could see well around sunset and at night) was a major plot point. (Basically, they were lost in the dark, and only he could see.)

I'm not sure if it's got a name, but my eye condition only affects the optic nerve. On the flip end of things, I can't see at night to go outside-- can't even see traffic lights all that well. I've dealt with this for as long as I can remember.

Re: Oh, Wow!
Nope. What you described doesn't sound the same. My eye condition affects the optic nerve only. I can't drive, or even see traffic lights too well to get around independently. I have to feel and listen my way through the world.
