Fri, 02:40: lemonsharks: star-anise: twentiesordie: freegucci: Me: No one is hiring me Adults: you’re just not trying... http://t.co/7kytxEa2h0

This is why these people need to be asked "when was the last time *you* looked for work? No, not as an established person in your current 'niche', but as Joe Nobody who no one knows and who has little or no relevant experience."

Fact is the rules changed. They did so *decades* back, and nobody who has held a job at one company for years, or a succession of jobs "leveraged" by experience and who you know, has the faintest idea how the job market actually works anymore. Especially for "entry level" positions.

As the last poster noted, many of the techniques they suggest (which may have worked as recently as the 1970s) will ensure that you *don't* get a job these days.

They also don't understand the *fact* that unless you are highly skilled or *very* experienced, there are *hundreds* of people for every opening.

Its sheer random chance who gets hired.

Mind you, that doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of things you can do (or not do) that won't make it likely you *won't* get hired.

It's just that other than being punctual, presentable and polite there's essentially nothing you can do to *increase* the odds of getting the job.

Fri, 11:20: bonerfart: profit is usually expressed in the form of “gross” or “net” because capitalism is disgusting and... http://t.co/eZzkrQLtUg

So now we are resorting to the tactics of the folks who claim "cis" is an insult/threat?

"gross" and "net" have multiple meanings, and the ones used in financial stuff have nothing to do with the ones bonerfart is using.

If you can't make your point without those sorts of word games, then maybe you shouldn't be saying it.

There speaks privilege. The privilege of someone who has no expectation of anger turning into abuse or worse.

Many, *many* people *rightly* fear anger. Because it leads to them getting hurt, badly.
