Wed, 14:46: I was getting Glacier brand water from the vending machine last night at midnight, for my CPAP, and some... http://t.co/5U45BuskDb

Why were you wasting money like that?

What you are *supposed* to use is *distilled* water. Which I seriously doubt Glacier is.

If you aren't using distilled water, you might as well use tap water.

When (not *if*) you start getting mineral deposits in the water chamber, get out the "tub" you use for cleaning the mask and hoses (and *never* use for anything else!) and soak the chamber in white vinegar.

It'll take a long time but the vinegar will dissolve the the deposits. Which is why I got a spare water chamber for my CPAP.

BTW, the tub I used for cleaning things seems to be yet another victim of the move. So I gotta hit the hardware again to get one. *sigh*

Glacier water is filtered twice over, it's just as good as distilled. And a lot cheaper. I'd use the water from the Pur pitcher, but that thing takes ages to fill up.

Filtering won't do anything about *dissolved* minerals. Which are what makes the deposits.

Pur/Brita/etc only remove *some* dissolved things. and not the ones that make the deposits.

The whole *reason* for selling distilled water is for use in things (like steam irons) where deposits from dissolved minerals are a problem.

Worried about the cost? You can get a home distilling thingie that attaches to the kitchen faucet for $100 or so. It's low volume, but more than enough for the CPAP. Lasts for years and years I'm told.

Frankly, distilled water is cheap enough that I've seen no reason to bother (and for *me* the initial expense is a problem)
