I like this guy.

I didn't know anything at all about Barack Obama until I read an article about him in yesterday's issue of USA Today. From what I've read, I have decided I'm voting for him in the Primaries. And again for President. Forgetting his race (I thought he was Greek or something at first before finding out he's Black. But all the better, it's about time we had a Black man as President. I'm tired of all these old stupid white men.), his message is good. He's inexperienced in politics, and I agree with him that this will help him as President. He's got a lot more experience at the local level and other levels, which will help him forge a "new politics."

I'm stoked. This guy sounds freaking awesome!

Here's an excerpt of the article:

Obama touts non-political background
By Judy Keen, USA TODAY
CHICAGO — Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who will announce Saturday that he's running for the Democratic presidential nomination, says the brevity of his political résumé is his "greatest strength."

His work as a community organizer, civil rights attorney, constitutional law professor and state legislator "provides me with insights into solving problems at the federal level and at the local level and at the neighborhood level," Obama said in an interview with USA TODAY. That experience "is what's needed right now," he said.

Obama, 45, has been in the U.S. Senate for two years and served seven years in the Illinois Senate.

Only New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton had more support for the nomination in a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken last month. Among respondents, 18% of Democrats and independents who lean Democrat supported Obama; 29% backed Clinton.

A year ago, Obama said, he didn't plan to run for president. But as he traveled across the USA campaigning for Democrats and signing his best-selling book The Audacity of Hope, he discovered "an enormous hunger for a new kind of politics — an enormous desire to end business as usual and to focus on a politics that brings us together."

Here's what I gather about him - he has charisma, and he talks a great game. And I think he'd make a great Vice President. But Hillary'd make a better President.

Hey, maybe they should join forces. Wouldn't that kick ass! A woman President and a Black Vice President. That would be awesome! :-)

That was exactly the idea I was projecting. More important than the race/sex issue, though - a mechanically excellent president and a socially excellent vice president.

That article says he smokes three Marlboros a day. Not three PACKS a day, three Marlboros. Which suggests to me that he's a very light smoker. Probably even trying to quit.

I read something yesterday in the Des Moines Register that said she's making him quit. That she'll support his bid for Presidency as long as he quits smoking.
