WOAH!

Oh WOAH!

Does anyone remember that Star Trek: TNG episode where they're piecing together a message left in the DNA of different worlds and it makes a message from the First Race? And apparently the story was that the First Race found themselves to be all alone in the Milky Way galaxy, and so put the seeds of life and sentient life on a whole bunch of planets? Well I do.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because here's a picture of them: http://www.utfp.org/HQ/Library/xenobiology/alphaquadrant6.html

Now tell me, don't they look a lot like The Founders? Considering that The Founders admitted to having been solids once, and evolved into shapeshifters, I think The Founders and The First Race are THE SAME SPECIES! Or at least, The Founders evolved directly from The First Race.

OH MY GAWD!!!

... wow. That was an impressive display of fan-ery.

Yeah, well... *blushes* I just happened to be looking up something else when I stumbled on that picture and connected the two. I'd seen DS9 so often and been so fascinated by the Founders that I remembered most of what was said about them in the episodes I saw.

Well, I don't know. The story with the Changlings is that they look like that because most of the suck at taking humanoid form.

And plus even for a TV show one must have more indication than just that two species look alike. I mean, is there any other way they're connected? Otherwise the discussion is rather pointless.

Well yeah, maybe. After all, there's a Delta quadrant race who look like the Nausicans. Plus all the human-looking races. But still... think about it: the Founders said they used to be solids, and we don't know what happened to the First Race. It's so often assumed that they died out, but what if they didn't?

I think I'm going to contact Peter David or one of those other Star Trek novel writers and give him this idea!

Oh dude, that is NOT the case at all. The Founders can look like anyone! There were several episodes where they took the forms of different Starfleet people, and one even took the form of a Klingon. There was one who pretended to be Dr. Bashir for months and months before anyone found out the truth.

No, I always assumed that the Founders took that weird form because Odo couldn't do faces well, and they were doing it out of respect for him. But what if Odo can only do that face because that's his race's original face?
