Watching Game of Thrones. Must comment on the battle scenes. Sure, Tywin's use of Hellfire was clever, cutting down most of Stannis's fleet in one go, but there were so many other areas where there was room for improvement. When Stannis's men landed on the shore and came up to the walls, there should have been flaming tar, pitch, or other bad stuff waiting. Hell, boiling water would have even worked! And since they knew Stannis was coming, the beach should have had pikes or other traps set into it. Then, they should have kept the doors closed and just chucked stuff down at Stannis's men.
Oh, and the ladders? Just fucking push the ladders back over again! Or use pitch to set them on fire!
Why is there even a door there, so close to the shore? It's like, 10 or 15 feet from the ocean, at most.
I mean really, they're trying to show how clever Tywin is, but they could have done a lot better job. Were he real, he would never have overlooked such obvious areas of defense!
I think these TV shows should have beta watchers to check for these kinds of errors.
Oh, and what's with Mr. Big Bad Psycho chickening out from a little fire? Sure, he has a big old burn scar on his face, but he's supposed to be a stone cold killer, and he turns yellow at the sight of fire!
Ha! I knew Geoffrey was a little yellow-bellied dickwad, for all his psychotic tendencies.
Good to see Tyrion is as good a public speaker as he is a clever little man. :-) He is my favorite character. Oh, and gotta give him points for sneaking around behind the enemy.
